As many of you may know, I also contribute to a Static Major tribute blog over at Static Major Is Music. We recently posted this demo track that Static wrote and are trying to get everyone to guess who he wrote it for. All I can say is the track is from 2004, and was written for a female r&b singer who at the time had a squeaky clean image. They were trying to give her a song that was more edgy than anything we'd ever heard before, but unfortunately this Dr. Dre produced track didn't make the cut for that album. Can you guess who this was for?

I was just highlighting another masterpiece that B.M. Cox constructed with Dru Hill from their last album on "If I Could" (Click Here To Read/Listen) and now this comes out. Wow, leave it to Cox to help resurrect the career of a group trying to find it's way back!! I guess I shouldn't really be surprised, it seems like everything Cox touches turns to gold when it comes to his production. This song may not blow up on the radio, but it's a very solid cut and a step in the right direction for Dru Hill. On a sidenote, does anyone else notice Sisqo's voice to be a little scratchier than it used to be, or is it just me?

Here is another song leaked by Avery from his upcoming mixtape produced by the Heatmakerz. I like this song, it has a real classic vibe to it and the beat is reminiscent of something I would expect from classic r&b. Nice job Avery, and I'm looking forward to this mixtape coming out February 23rd.

If you are familiar with Donell Jones' debut album "My Heart," sound wise this song sounds like it would fit right in on that album if Donell was singing it. There is good reason for that though, Donell did write and produce this hit for 702.

As a general rule, it's a given that I'm going to pretty much post any song that involves Tank in some way. I just respect him as an artist and try to give him the respect he deserves since he's so underrated. O'Ryan is actually the brother of Omarion and released his self title debut album back in 2004 at the age of 17. There were actually a couple of songs on that album I really liked, and one of those will be coming later today...

To the general listeners, this Underdogs produced track by Tyrese isn't anything special. I'm a huge fan of The Underdogs though (even though they've recycled the same beat like 500 times!) and a sucker for these type of songs, so I have no complaints about this track at all.

Love or hate their music, there is no denying that these girls can really sing. This cover they did of the classic Ronettes song is further proof of that. They took a classic chart topping hit from the 60's and really managed to put their own stamp on it. While I won't go as far as to say this is better than the original, because it's not, I still give them credit. While for the most part the group has made a career on uptempo dance tracks, they definitely have the talent to succeed singing on songs like this.
