Ginuwine Chooses His Top 10 Favorite Ginuwine Songs for YouKnowIGotSoul

I reached out to Ginuwine and he graciously put together this list for me of his favorite songs he's recorded. I'd say the major surprise on this list is "Drink Of Choice" which is from his new album and to date we've only heard a snippet of. Another slight surprise is "She's Outta My Life" which is the cover of the Michael Jackson classic and I'm sure he holds a special spot for since it was his idol. The rest of the list is basically comprised of some of his biggest hits from his career which you can't go wrong in choosing. Overall, very solid list.

1. Last Chance: His comeback to mainstream, it said he can fit in with the new music. Plus my personal anthem.

2. On my Way: Listen to it, the words say it.

3. Stingy: What woman wouldn't want a man to feel that way about her.

4. So Anxious: The song that puts you in the mood. The song you fantasize on.

5. When We Make Love: For a man to be so expressive verbally. Wow!!

6. Betta Half: A man truly expressing his love(emotions).

7. I'm in Love: A love song that I take to heart. This is that beginning moment between that guy and that girl.

8. Far Away: Personal for me. Heard it for the first time at the pivotal point in my relationship.

9. Glaze in my Eyes: The words speak for themselves.

10. One Time for Love: You want him (Not Ginuwine-LOL) to just fulfill that need for the night and know it's for love not just pleasure.


I really loved the entire Back II Da Basics CD, it was not given fair play at all. That CD could have taken him to the TOp past the "Pony" records.

Thank you for allowing me to add my opinion on Elgin Baylor Lumpkin's music. One of the many under rated artists out here.

Hopefully "Elgin" will be the one to put the Cherry back on top for him.

Snippets from Tweet's Upcoming "Love, Tweet" Album

Tweet provided these snippets from her upcoming album for her fans on Twitter who are patiently waiting for the follow up to her 2005 "It's Me Again" album.



She also gave fans a taste of some rough vocals on some of her previous material.

New Joint: Raphael Saadiq "Radio"

Not exactly sure how to describe the sound I'm hearing on this song, all I know is this sound was popular wayyyyyy before I was born! Raphael experimented with this type of old school sound on his last album in 2008 "The Way I See It," and now from the sounds of his first single from his upcoming album "Stone Rollin" he's sticking to that formula. Not sure what to make of it at this point.

New Video: Marsha Ambrosius "Far Away"

I simply can't say enough about the message Marsha Ambrosius is sending with the release of her video for "Far Away." With the huge problem the world is currently facing with hate crimes against those living "alternative lifestyles," it's great to see Marsha take a stand and speak out against the ones committing them. It doesn't happen often to me, but I was actually moved by the video. Amazing job Marsha!

Daron Jones of 112 Chooses His Top 10 Favorite 112 Songs for YouKnowIGotSoul

Going into this feature, I had a good idea of where Daron would go with his picks since he had a big hand in the writing and production of some the group's biggest songs. If you look over the list, that is pretty much the case here, he went with the songs he helped create aside from his voice. To me that's what makes the feature so interesting; since he chose his personal favorites, he went with the ones that meant the most to him and not necessarily the group's biggest hits. "Crazy Over You" and "Your Letter" are two of my favorites as well of the non-singles from 112. Well done Daron!

If you listen to the interview I recently did with Mike of 112, he goes in depth through each of the albums and talks about the status of the group during that period. He mentions about how they sort of lost their way with the "Hot & Wet" album but that the "Pleasure & Pain" album was a redemption for the group; I totally agree. On that "Pleasure & Pain" album, which ended up being the groups final album, the beautiful ballad "God Knows" was a highlight and marked a return to the soulful style the group used early on.

My recent interview with Kandi where she mentioned Isyss' "Single for the Rest of My Life" was one of the best songs she wrote reminded me of this short lived group from the early 00s. I gave their debut album "The Way We Do" a listen back then, and "Message 2 U" was easily the standout from the album. Following the album, the Intelligent Sexy Young Soul Sisters were dropped from Arista and disbanded as a group.

Being the huge Faith Evans fan that I am, just reaching out to her and having her share her favorite songs with me was a treat. But wow did she give me more than I could ever imagine with an in depth reasoning behind each! As a fan, this is the type of information that could put a whole new spin on a song and change the way you listen to it. Even if you're not a fan of Faith, it's amazing to have this piece of history behind each song.

1. Soon As I Get Home - I've heard many people say this song is a timeless love song. It's one of my faves from my first album, and I love the energy the audience gives me every time I perform it live.

2. Love Like This - Another one of my faves from my second album "Keep The Faith." The fans really get into this song, and I've incorporated Fat Man Scoop's version into my live show, just to get the crowd extra extra hype! This is probably my favorite song to perform live stateside and internationally.

3. Again - This song is near and dear to my heart. It's a testament to my name, FAITH. I'm not perfect, and everything I've been through has been for a reason. My Faith in GOD and knowing that he watches over me helps me to believe that if he brought me to it, he'll bring me through it!

4. Mesmerized - This is one of the first songs I recorded in my home studio when I lived in Atlanta. It was also the song that sorta sealed my deal with Capitol Records and was the 2nd single from "The First Lady" album. It's so gutsy, raw and soulful, kinda like if Aretha Franklin were to sing a James Brown joint....It's just so damn funky!!!!!!

5. You Gets No Love - This was the 1st single from my "Faithfully" album. It has that west coast bump you can ride out to while you're hitting switches! It's just saucy, a very in your face type of record that I wrote after having a conversation with one of my girlfriends about a situation she was going through at the time. I also spit a couple bars right before the bridge, again paying homage to B.I.G. (I jacked his flow from his verse on the "Get Money" remix, but put a little "Big Fizzy" on it, hahahaha)

6. Love Can't Hide - This song was inspired by Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald and Betty Carter. I studied a lot of Jazz greats, among other talents/genres while recording the Faithfully album. When I went into the booth to record, what you hear is what came out. After I finished recording this song, I was overcome with emotions and cried, like wow that's me scatting like that!

7. Everyday Struggle - This is from my new album, "Something About Faith" (in stores & online now), and is an ode to B.I.G. I think its important to keep his legacy alive through music, and I tried to do that with this song. I also wanted to inspire my listeners both young and old; there's a line in the song that says "if you're coming from the right place, you can never go wrong". That's a creed that I've learned to live my life by.

8. Troubled World - This is another song from my new album, "Something About Faith." I wrote this song about 10 years ago when I was working on Faithfully. It was my dream to have Lauryn Hill, Stevie Wonder & Andre 3000 be apart of it. When I turned in the album, I left this song off, because I felt like it wasn't time for it. Here we are 10 years later, and I feel like GOD was saying now is the time for this song to come forth.

9. Tears Away - It wasn't a single or even a song on any of my albums, it was featured on the "Hav Plenty" soundtrack. Looking back, I probably would've saved it for my own project, because I loved it that much!

10. Happy Holiday - This is a song from my Christmas album "A Faithful Christmas" that I co-wrote with my daughter, Chyna. It talks about not forgetting about those who are less fortunate, and remembering the reason for the season

1.Until You Came (This pick might shock some people, but it's such a soulful record to me. Carvin & Ivan give you "The Sound Of Philadelphia" on this record and I love Faith's vocal approach. I love the part where she speaks at the end, I always thought of it as a soulful, street soliloquy -Big Fizzy style a la Betty Wright.)

2. Soon As I Get Home (This is classic Faith Evans. The 7 second pause between the intro and the first hook build up the anticipation. I get hyped every time I hear it. I love that Faith is singing about the way that SHE wants to be treated. Whenever I hear this song it takes me back to '95 and reminds me why I fell in love with The First Lady of Bad Boy.)

3. Stop N Go (No surprise Carvin & Ivan were producers on this track. I think they always bring out the vocal beast in Faith. The word play on this song is crazy! This song is like the musical version of Love and Basketball. The music & melody sounds like she's going up against the shot clock.)

4. You Used To Love Me (This song was probably stamped a classic when it left the studio. No wonder Funkmaster Flex was dropping bombs on this joint when it was released. It made the summer of '95 sizzle. Even when I hear it today, I can't help but do the "Faith head nod" that she does in the video. Lol.)

5. Brand New Man (Although this is one of Faith's least favorites, I've always loved it. She delivers it with sort of a "Brick City, I got a new and better man" type of attitude. I would love to hear her sing it in the key she originally wanted to sing it in though.)

6. Gone Already (Another great track by Carvin & Ivan. Faith kills you softly but strongly with her delivery. The arrangements are so beautiful. Grammy nominated....enough said.)

7. Faithfully (This is a feel good track. It kinda makes you want to 2 step with your boo. Even though we've heard the Mtume sample before, I love Faith's spin on it.)

8. Tru Love (While this JD, B-Cox track is very reminiscent of Usher's "Burn" which released a year prior to The First Lady, it's very catchy. You can't help but sing along when Faith instructs you to during the bridge, although I start singing along at the very beginning of the song.)

9. Anything You Need (I think people may have slept on this one. It sounds sort of like a lover's lullabye and Faith delivers it like only she can.)

10. I Still (I couldn't stop playing this song when I first heard the album. The hook is very catchy, but it has a grown and sexy vibe to it. Faith is to "I Still" what Tony Toni Tone is to "Anniversary." This is the new "I'm still in love with you after all this time" jam. I have a feeling this might be the second single to drop around Valentine's Day, which will make all the lovers happy.)
