Now this is more of what I was expecting from Kelly. She's moved slightly away from that Euro-Techno pop on this one and at least given us closer to something sounding like r&b. We'll find out later this year! This song was written by Ne-Yo.

New Joint: Kelly Rowland "Grown Ass Woman" (Produced by Stargate)
Now this is more of what I was expecting from Kelly. She's moved slightly away from that Euro-Techno pop on this one and at least given us closer to something sounding like r&b. We'll find out later this year! This song was written by Ne-Yo.
New Joint: Ne-Yo "Champagne Life" (Produced by Stargate)
Ah the good life. This song is cool though, I'm feeling it.
Classic Vibe: Allure "No Question" featuring LL Cool J (1997)
This group really had some good songs, it's a shame their career never panned out like it was on track for after their debut album!

Classic Vibe: Montell Jordan "Falling" featuring Flesh-N-Bone (1996)
Once again shout out to my man Samuel for putting me on to this one as well. Not only do I miss 90's r&b, but I also miss that classic Bone Thugs sound! This was the second single from Montell's sophomore album "More...".

New Joint: R.L. "Let Him Go"
R.L. has supposedly been preparing the follow up to his 2001 "RLements" album, but the months have passed and I haven't heard much about it since the interview I've done with him. Let's hope we can get an update soon.
New Joints: Dave Young "Lie To Me" & "Took Forever"
Shout out to my man DaVaughn from SoulStarMusic for putting me on to Dave Young, the first artist signed to Mary J. Blige's Matriarch Records. Like Blige, he truly believes in helping to preserve old should r&b and soul by tapping into his idols such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Anita Baker. I'll tell you, that's refreshing to hear in a day and age when most new r&b artists seemed more concerned with creating the flavor of the moment. He's currently working on his self titled debut album, so stay tuned for that.
New Joint: Ne-Yo "Chillin"
We first heard this song a couple of years back, only it had a DJ shouting all over it and it was labeled as "Comfortable." I was a big fan of the song then, and can enjoy it even more now as I have the mastered version!
Classic Vibe: Ginuwine "I'll Do Anything/I'm Sorry" featuring Timbaland (1996)
Can you hear the sample of Stevie Wonder's "Vision" on this song? Timbaland flipped the sample perfectly and tastefully on this one.

New Video: Dwele "What's Not To Love"
Oh man, I have not stopped playing this song since I heard it a few weeks ago; I'm a huge fan of it. This of course is the first single from his upcoming album "W.ants W.orld W.omen" which is due out June 29th. Dwele always puts out a solid album, and I expect nothing less on this one!
New Joint: Ne-Yo "Stuck in the Middle"
Honestly, I have no idea what type of sound to expect on Ne-Yo's upcoming album. Is he even doing r&b anymore? First we heard the techno sounding first single "Beautiful Monster." Now we have something that sounds more alternative rock than anything else. Now let me not jump the gun and assume this is for his new album, because this very well may be a demo for another artist. We'll just have to wait and see.
New Joint: Fantasia Barrino "The Worst Part Is Over"
How many American Idol winners have actually gone on to have successful careers? I guess maybe Kelly Clarkson is the exception. In any case, here is some new material from season 3 winner Fantasia who is currently working on her third album. The album currently is untitled and is expected to release in July.
New Joint: The Roots "Doin It Again" featuring John Legend
The Roots are currently working on their new album "How I Got Over" which is due for release June 22nd and this is potentially a cut from that album. As you can hear, they sampled (although it sounds like John re-recorded the vocals) John Legend's "Again" from his "Once Again" album. The collaboration sounds good to me, and The Roots to me are one of the best hip hop groups of all time.

New Joint: Johnta Austin "Oh What a Feeling" featuring Jermaine Dupri
Now that the "Ocean Drive" album has officially been scrapped, he seems to have turned full attention to the "Love, Sex & Religion" album. I've been rooting for him to come out for years now, so I hope he is finally able to push this one out.
Classic Vibe: Lauryn Hill "The Sweetest Thing" (1997)
I think the best way to summarize Lauryn Hill's solo career was a quiet storm that appeared almost out of nowhere, caused major commotion for a short period of time only to disappear and not be heard from again. Man, r&b really misses her!
